During rail operations, you can add empty railcars to train visits that are in the Created, Inbound, or Arrived phases either to fix the railcars associated with a train visit or to add new railcars to a train visit. You can add railcars to Inbound, Through, and Outbound train visits.
You can use the Add Empty Railcars form to add existing, empty, and Active railcar visits to the selected train visit in the Created, Inbound, or Arrived phase.
To add an empty railcar to the selected train visit:
From the Railcar ID lookup field, select the railcar that you want to associate with the selected train visit.
If the selected railcar has a railcar type, N4 automatically fills the Template Type field with the railcar type and makes the field view only.
However, if the selected railcar does not have a railcar type, N4 fills the Template Type field with the default railcar type. In this case, you can change the railcar type selected in the Template Type field.
Click Save.

To keep track of when a railcar visit is added or removed from a railcar visit, you can enable logging for the com.navis.rail.business.entity package in N4 to ensure that when a railcar visit is added or removed from a train visit, the information is added to the navis-apex.log file.
